Cannes has long been the Mecca of the entertainment industry. It is the place to showcase the best of the best films. It’s as if the city was founded for the sole purpose of showcasing timeless classics.

Our city has showcased the best cinema in the world for decades. Our city has given a platform to the auteurs of our art even when they were banned by theatres in their own countries and the largest markets around the world. We are proud to support great cinema and now we are proud to support great screenwriting with the launch of the Cannes Golden Plume International Screenwriting Competition.

The Cannes International Screenwriting Competition will launch the careers of the next generation of great filmmakers by recognizing the absolute best screenwriting talent in the world and rewarding them with introductions to the most prestigious talent agencies and lit managers in the world. We want to connect artists with the people who can not only get them working, but can also get their films made.

We embrace artists from all over the globe. As such, we embrace all forms of expression that is why we are the only major screenwriting competition to accept scripts in multiple language formats. We also accept scripts of all kinds and in every genre from studio blockbusters to foreign films and art house independents. Artists come in all shapes and sizes and so do great stories which is why we do not discriminate based on content and will never discriminate against artists based on ethnicity, nationality, sex, or sexual orientation.

Our city has the world’s best reputation in cinema. We showcase the greatest talent in the world. We want to continue that tradition. We want to develop writers to work in film and television. We want to inspire and support them at all levels and everything in cinema starts with the script. As such we want to do everything we can to support the people who write them. We want to inspire the next generation of writers to tell stories that will not only inspire audiences, but will inspire the next generation of writers around the world.

Our aim is further the craft of screenwriting for generations to come.

Our mission is to launch the careers of cinema’s next generation of screenwriters by holding the most prestigious competition in North America and the world. Our goal is to connect emerging talent with the film industry’s movers and shakers so that they can get their scripts into production. We believe that we have created a vehicle that will infuse new energy into filmmaking while also creating opportunities for incredible new talent.

We are a team of Canadian artists and industry professionals who are passionate about filmmaking and about nurturing, developing, and supporting the next generation of filmmakers and screenwriters from Toronto and around the world.

We are convinced that our Toronto International Screenwriting Competition will bridge the gap between emerging artists and the talent agents and managers who will ultimately introduce them to the producers and studio executives in both Canada and the US who will get their movies made. We are also eager – and able – to introduce these artists to producers and production teams that call Toronto their home.

We love all kinds of scripts and stories – from studio blockbusters to art house fare! No two paths are the same and no two stories are alike. We accept scripts from all over the world, not just the US and Canada and from artists of all shapes and sizes, colors and ethnicities, sexes and sexual orientations.

Our city has a long history of nurturing and showcasing the most talented filmmakers in the entertainment industry. We now want to give screenwriters the same level of exposure. We encourage writers to work on studio films as well as high-end independents. We hope to inspire, support, and develop writers at all levels to make great films that leave others touched, moved and inspired.

The bottom line is that we support the arts, not only locally, but around the world. Our aim is to create a screenwriting festival that will inspire generations of aspiring writers and filmmakers in all genres to tell great stories in the US, Canada, and abroad.

Our aim is to open doors for aspiring screenwriters.

Since the launch of our very first writing competition, the Launch Pad has helped 254 writers get signed, 81 projects get set up, seen 48 writers hired as staff-writers, and sparked 4 studio bidding wars.

From the start, the competition has leveraged our deep relationships with Hollywood’s top agents, managers, producers, and executives and consistently assembled a “who’s who” panel of 25 judges for each and every competition. This year is no exception, with judges participating from Paradigm, APA, Energy Entertainment, Circle of Confusion, Di Novi Pictures, Bellevue, and many more.

At the Launch Pad, we go above and beyond to advocate for all of our finalists, from the Top 75 all the way to our winners. We work tirelessly to get your work into the hands of the biggest agencies, management companies, and production companies around to showcase you and your writing.

LGBT Film Festival and Screenplay Competition.

We are looking for FILMS and SCREENPLAYS with an LGBT theme to be part of the New Renaissance Film Festival, which will take place in Amsterdam, next March (2018).

Different lengths and different genres are welcome, and we especially love quality drama shorts with strong emotional themes.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The New Renaissance Film Festival had its successful inaugural event in Amsterdam in March 2017, and is part of larger festival which takes place in London. NRFF Amsterdam and LGBT NRFF Amsterdam will be held at the arthouse cinema LAB111, which is close to the famous Vondelpark in Amsterdam, a city known for its diversity and innovation in the creative arts. We will screen up to 100 films in two cinemas over the course of three days. The event will include professional MASTER CLASSES, Filmmakers Q&A's, Panel Discussions, a fun COCKTAIL HOUR and AWARDS CEREMONY.

The festival will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and ticket sales will be announced on the website in due course.
