Continuing wee work. Sharing wee words. Telling wee stories.

In 2006 the U.S. Congress designated the Gullah Geechee Corridor, which runs from Wilmington, NC to Jacksonville, Fl. This corridor is considered “home to one of America’s most unique cultures”. The Horry County Gullah Geechee Heritage Committee hosts annual events to recognize the cultural importance of the Corridor's Congressional designation. The addition of our annual film festival enhances our overall mission spotlighting diverse visual storytelling of the American Community as a whole, and Gullah Geechee culture specifically.

It is the mission of the Gullah Geechee Heritage Film Festival to encourage filmmakers to explore and tell visual stories based on the rich history of Gullah Geechee culture. Amateur Film Festival WIPE is created to give viewers the opportunity to watch films of different genres made by non-professionals, who in turn will be able to meet with their audience.

The word “amateur” comes from the Latin word “amo”, “to love”, and that love for cinema is at the heart of all the works that we show in our film festival. This love not only replaces the film-education for their authors, but also exempts them from all sorts of boundaries, which an education creates. So the amateur films for us is not a conceptual format of the film festival. It is a search for the new film language, which can exist just outside of industrial schemes of production and distribution.

DYSPLA International Moving Image Festival is the world’s first festival dedicated to screening the visual innovation of dyslexic and neurodiverse story makers, showcasing a collection of moving images dedicated to exploring dyslexic narratives.

DYSPLA was established in 2007 to exhibit and produce the work of dyslexic and neurodiverse story makers. From our early stages we have produced and exhibited work internationally, establishing ourselves at the forefront of the dyslexic and neurodiverse creative community.

Dyslexic and Neurodiverse filmmakers have a strong heritage in cinematic history. Stan Brakhage, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Joe Wright, and Steven Spielberg, are a few filmmakers that share dyslexia as their commonality, and as their genius.

DYSPLA will focus on the innovative moving image to define dyslexic and neurodiverse narrative. We aim to explore ideas of dyslexic narrative, how the dyslexic and neurodiverse experience and exhibit the world, and also address ideas of societal reform. Tackling the conventions surrounding neurodiversity and magnifying the benefits within the creative sector.

DYSPLA hopes to mix the elements of a film festival with an art gallery approach by not only presenting innovation in dyslexic filmmaking, but by challenging how the audience experiences the moving image

Film Southasia (FSA) is a biennial festival that was set up in 1997 with the goal of popularising the documentary so that it entertains, informs and changes lives. In addition to the festival that takes place in Kathmandu every two years, FSA organizes screenings, discussions and workshops across Southasia to promote Southasian non-fiction within the Subcontinent and around the world. Film Southasia believes that film is a powerful medium that helps to not only in better represent the region internationally, but also contributes immensely in introspection and initiatives to bring change at the local level.
Ten editions of the festival have been held to date. At each festival, films are judged by a three-member Southasian jury and the best film is awarded the ‘Ram Bahadur Trophy’ for Best Film along with a citation and a cash prize of USD 2,000. The second best film is awarded a citation and cash prize of USD 1,000. The Best Debut Film is awarded the Tareque Masud Award and cash prize of USD 1,000. Past juries have been headed by well-known Southasian auteur filmmakers like Shyam Benegal, Goutam Ghose, Tareque Masud, Saeed Mirza and eminent journalist Mark Tully. Guests of honour at past festivals have included legendary poet and filmmaker Gulzar (FSA ’99), noted Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt (FSA ’03) and the eminent actor and social activist Shabana Azmi (FSA ’09).
Film Southasia 2017 is going to be held from 2nd to 5th November 2017 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Aspiring screenwriters are stuck in the perpetual loop of the "chicken and egg" paradox: They can't get representation if their work has not been produced, yet often can't get their work produced if they don't have representation. Also, not everyone has the time or resources to produce an original screenplay independently. Visually Sound Pictures LLC has established its Budget Builder Short Script Contest -- now in its second year -- to help screenwriters and filmmakers achieve their big break!

This year, Visually Sound Pictures LLC has parnterd with InkTip: Where producers go for scripts and writers. Producers have made more than 315 films from scripts and writers they found through InkTip.

Our competition is seeking submissions for short scripts (45 pages or less).

(1) Grand Prize Winner will have his or her script funded for production.
(3) Runner-Ups will receive an InkTip prize package to promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents. Each winner will receive an InkTip Script Listing and have their logline featured in InkTip Magazine. InkTip Magazine is sent to over 15,000 producers and representatives.
