The Destiny City Film Festival is a homegrown, true-Tacoma community event, inspired by our city’s nickname – The City of Destiny – and built to showcase the best independent films from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Our mission is to use the power of vibrant cinematic storytelling to curate an engaged community audience for independent film.

This three-day festival is organized by people who believe at the heart of every great movie is a great story, one that is destined to invigorate an audience through the art form of film. DCFF credits the ingenuity of independent filmmakers for continuing the tradition of compelling storytelling through motion pictures in the digital age, whether told in the documentary, animated, experimental, or narrative form. It is our passion to provide screens for the finest of these independent films and strengthen the local film community by building an engaged audience.

Audiences and filmmakers attending the 100% volunteer-run festival can expect top-quality programming of films, workshops, and panel discussions. DCFF aims to enhance the vitality of independent filmmaking in the South Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest by playing local films along with the best being produced from around the world. The Northwest cinema landscape and the thriving talent of its filmmakers deserve to be held to a higher standard—and audiences deserve to see great movies. The experienced and devoted DCFF staff is thrilled to be the middleman.

The seventh annual Destiny City Film Festival (February 29-March 1, 2020) will be hosted by one of Tacoma’s oldest movie theaters and, at nearly 100 years old, is one of the oldest continuously operating movie theaters in the country—the historic Blue Mouse Theater in the Proctor District of Tacoma, Washington.

The UK & London's Coolest Film Festival!

CPIFF receives films from all over the globe and screens only the very best of them with fabulous food and drink in funky venues, including the incredibly plush Everyman Cinema Crystal Palace – their flagship cinema (pictured below on Launch Night 2019), the Picturehouse West Norwood and the architectural magnificence of Stanley Halls and Anerley Town Hall. The film quality is remarkable and each night is a social event to remember; a one time opportunity to catch most of these incredible films. Lots of filmmakers fly in from around the world for Q&As; many, who attend lots of film festivals, comment on the stand out nature and higher quality of CPIFF. We vigilantly curate our films so a night of short films, for example, offers one after another of pure quality, an eclectic mix of genres combined with amazing food and drink – that’s why a lot of our nights sell out. Launch Night 2019 sold out within 24 hours a month in advance!

Mike Reiss, writer of the Simpsons since it began, said: “You run the very best festival we’ve ever been to – and we’ve been to a lot, this is as good as it gets! It’s a very casual setting but there’s nothing casual about how it’s put together and how high the quality of the films are. There’s food and drink everywhere, they filled the house, it’s been fun every night – really top notch.”

Turning 10 in 2020, QWFF includes a well attended popular multi-day annual film festival, year-round screening opportunities for QWFF alumni, special events to bring the Indie film community together, industry networking events and an educational initiative for youth and Seniors.

Our festival is about heart and guts. We LOVE a film that has a point of view and doesn't back off. This is a tough time on our planet and now is not the time to stop holding up the mirror and showing us who we are or what we have done or who we could be. We are committed to making sure that creative expression is alive and well in our country.

We are especially interested in maverick filmmakers of any orientation, ethnicity, country or region. Please challenge norms, take on systems, speak truth to power, spill your guts, twist perceptions or scare us silly. We love horror, the seriously funny and the uber real.

Ideas are welcome in Queens New York, and with 165 nationalities represented here, in the 'World's Borough', we have an audience for your film.

You can enter any of thousands of festivals. When you choose us, we don't take that lightly. We will give your film all of our attention in the screening process. If selected, you will be invited to the annual Festival Kick-Off event, the Press Conference at MoMI, the all hands on deck Trailer Party, publicity stunts, flash mobs, TV and radio interviews – we will build a community around you and your work.

So. Take a stand. Show us something you believe in. Bring on your craft and let's see what you got. Bring it.

Bones of Women The Documentary is about
two strangers who meet in the cafe and share their personal stories, from trauma to triumph. All while a blind audience was listening in with earpieces. Filming and total concept is unlike anything we are aware of being produced before, and we are proud of the outcome so far.

The theme is trauma to triumph, where two women chosen came from backgrounds such as child sexual abuse, rape, and being shut down from their authentic selves.

On the day, the 42 audience member's engaged with the two women after filming, and lives have changed in the most positive way, where connections and lifelong friendships have been formed. Bones of Women is aimed to educate, inspire, empower and encourage anyone, not just women (as two men were in the audience), that they too can be brave and take action to heal any trauma that has impacted them.

Although in post production at the moment, I have a local screening set for March 21st, 2020, at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre in Bundaberg. Bones of Women is aimed to create not just a documentary but a movement towards inner healing.
